Adam

ADAM

This project was to design a dream toy for my childhood and provide open source toy for kid based on rapid development of low cost 3D printers. Also, it addresses a sculptural approach of robotic and DIY electronic toys which has not been tried in market many yet.

Feature 1

The concept of Adam is simple. It is a fighting robot and there is pilot inside. Once it loses the battles, or more than half of armors are detached, Adam opens cockpit door and slide out the cockpit.

Feature 2

I had to figure out both hardware and software to make in works. For the hardware part, figuring out the mechanism for the sliding cockpit and the door took the most time, and the wiring all the parts and sensors took the second most time. Also, I designed custom shield for the Redbear Labs micro processor, which includes Bluetooth module, to fit into Adam.

Feature 3

For the control, it was controlled by smartphone through Redbear lab’s default app with Bluetooth connection.
